By registering for or using Boardgame Kallax, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. About the Project
Boardgame Kallax began as a personal passion project intended for the creator's use. It has evolved into a fully featured application that we believe many board game enthusiasts will enjoy.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have parental/guardian consent, to create an account and use Boardgame Kallax.
3. Tier Structure & Pricing
a. Meeple Tier (Free): Limited to 10 games in your library with 30 credits for logging plays. This tier showcases the core functionality of Boardgame Kallax including library management, play tracking, and player statistics.
b. Paid Tiers: We offer 7 paid tiers (Shelf, Bookcase, Library, Collector, Curator, Archive, and Kallax King) ranging from R10 to R75 (or $0.99 to $4.99 USD), based on your collection size. Each tier provides access to a specific number of games (from 50 to unlimited). Tier purchases are one-time payments that unlock your tier forever.
c. Credit System: Play logging requires credits (1 credit = 1 logged play). Credits never expire and can be purchased in packages: 50 credits (R18/$1), 150 credits (R45/$2.50), or 300 credits (R72/$4). Each tier purchase includes 30 bonus credits.
d. Voluntary Payment: No user is ever forced to pay for premium access. All payments are voluntary.
e. No Subscriptions: Tier purchases are permanent. There is no recurring billing or auto-renewal. Once unlocked, your tier remains active forever.
f. Refunds: Due to the digital nature of this service, refunds are generally not provided. However, if you experience issues, please contact us at support@boardgamekallax.co.za.
4. Your Account
a. Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
b. Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@boardgamekallax.co.za. We will process your request within 30 days.
c. Termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behaviour.
5. Privacy & Data
a. Data We Collect: We collect your username, email address, and securely hashed password. We also store your game library, play history, and usage statistics.
b. How We Use Your Data: Your data is used solely to provide and improve Boardgame Kallax. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
c. Data Storage: Your data is stored securely on cloud servers. Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard hashing.
d. POPIA Compliance: We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data.
e. Cookies: We use essential cookies and local storage to maintain your session and preferences (such as theme selection).
6. Rights and Use
a. License: Your tier purchase grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Boardgame Kallax for personal, non-commercial purposes.
b. Ownership: Boardgame Kallax, including its design, code, and branding, remains the intellectual property of its creator.
c. User Content: Game data and statistics you generate remain associated with your account. Aggregated, anonymised data may be used to improve features or for internal analysis.
d. Feedback: Suggestions and feature requests are welcomed at support@boardgamekallax.co.za, though implementation is not guaranteed.
7. Limitation of Liability
Boardgame Kallax is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. By using this service, you agree to hold Boardgame Kallax harmless from any claims arising out of your use of the application. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the preceding 12 months.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of Boardgame Kallax after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
9. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
